can I be a supported lodgings host?

Anyone over 21 who lives in the Cardiff area and has a spare room can apply to become a Supported Lodgings Provider.

Being in full time work is not a barrier to taking part in the scheme. Whether you own your home or rent it will not affect your application. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, cultures, sexual orientation, genders, and marital status. The main criteria is that you can offer a safe environment and are willing to support a young person. All our supported lodgings hosts are assessed and approved by the Local Authority. This will include medical and DBS checks.

The scheme is facilitated by our Supported Lodgings Team which is part of Foster Wales Cardiff.

Becoming a host can be an incredibly rewarding venture and truly makes a difference to the young people you support.

If you decide you’d like to know more, we can contact you to discuss the scheme, answer any queries and arrange a home visit should you wish to proceed further.

how much will my weekly payment be?

The amount you will receive as a supported lodgings host will be £189 per week. You will be expected to provide the young person with two meals / food every day (breakfast / evening meal) and a bedroom of their own.
