Married couple Jeevan and Carole are foster carers in Cardiff, and have been fostering children for five years.

It all started with a little inspiration from some friends, who happened to be foster carers. Once Carole and Jeevan decided to take the first step themselves, our local Cardiff team helped prepare them for what fostering would mean.
“They were very straight about what fostering is really like, but really supportive at the same time. Their training really helped us – they made us believe we could handle it.”
“can I stay here?”
The couple started fostering Jamie at age 9, originally on a short-term basis. They quickly began breaking down barriers through spending time together – and making pizza. In time, Jamie’s plan changed, and he is with Jeevan and Carole to stay.
“I’ll never forget the day he said ‘can I stay here?’ It turned out, through talking with the fostering team in Cardiff that this was actually the best option for Jamie, and he’s been with us ever since.”
a growing family
Later, Jeevan and Carole welcomed 8-year-old Seren to their growing family. And, though she’d had a difficult start, Seren soon flourished with Jeevan and Carole’s love and support.
“When we went to parents’ evening not so long ago, her teachers told us how she’s come on leaps and bounds, and how she charms them with her personality.”
“we have so much fun”
Fostering isn’t just about being dedicated for Jeevan and Carole, though that’s a big part of it. It’s also about the warmth, patience and love you show every day – and the joy it brings.
“There are difficult days, but then we have so much fun and feel so much pride. That feeling is so precious – you just want to bottle it up and keep it forever.”
